How Do I Make Green Beans with Fried Garlic and Turkey Bacon?
- Cut the ends off your green beans. Cut (or snap) the ends of your green beans. This removes the tough parts and will make for a tender final product.
- Fry your turkey bacon. Chop turkey bacon into small ½ inch by ½ inch pieces. Add your olive oil to a large pan over medium-low heat. Once oil is warmed (1-2 minutes), add your bacon, and turn burner up to medium heat. Allow bacon to brown on one side before flipping (about 3-4 minutes per side).
- Fry your garlic. While bacon fries, chop garlic. Once bacon is done, remove from the pan and set aside in a small bowl. Try to retail as much oil in the pan as possible, but add more as needed. Add garlic to pan, lower heat slightly (to medium-low heat) and fry garlic until edges have begun to crisp up and flip garlic on til fried. Once done, add garlic to a separate bowl from the bacon, being careful to retain as much oil as possible..
- Cook your green beans. Add green beans to oil and add broth. Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Cover with lid and allow to cook, stirring and flipping green beans occasionally for even cooking.
- Add garlic and bacon back in. Once green beans have mostly cooked (after about 10 minutes), add your garlic back into the pan. Allow to cook for another 5 minutes covered. Then, turn off the heat, mix in bacon and cover with lid again. Let stand for another 3-5 minutes to allow bacon to incorporate.

What if I want to use pork bacon?
You definitely can! if you’re using pork bacon in this recipe with just a few alterations. To make this substitution, you can omit the olive oil in this recipe.
Instead, fry the same amount of bacon as the recipe calls for in your pan until crispy before anything else. Pour out any excess fat, leaving no more than 1-2 tablespoons of fat in the pan. Then remove your bacon from the pan and, fry your chopped garlic until golden brown before removing and setting aside with your bacon.
Then continue to cook your green beans as the recipe calls for.
How do I know how many green beans to make?

- ½ teaspoon of garlic powder
