This simple green smoothie is perfectly sweet and is packed with fruits, veggies and protein and is a refreshing breakfast beverage, especially during the warmer months.
Why Make This Green Smoothie Recipe
I love a good fruit and veggie smoothie – especially in the warmer months. That said, I usually have two issues with smoothies – one is that they can be deceptively time consuming with all the product prep work involved (I may as well have made pancakes!).
The second is that to have a filling smoothie I usually end up adding lots of dairy to them which isn’t great for my lacto sensitivity that I’m definitely in denial about. This smoothie recipe solves for both challenges!
Because this recipe uses mostly frozen produce, prep time is cut waaayyy down, plus, you get a slightly frozen treat at the end (which I sometimes eat with a spoon and pretend it’s a soft serve version of sorbet). Also, by using almond milk this beverage is both packed with protein and fiber (from the produce) and totally vegan.
Green Smoothie Ingredients
- Mango (frozen or fresh)
- Mixed berries – including strawberries, raspberries, blueberries (frozen or fresh)
- Spinach (frozen or fresh)
- Cucumber
- Ginger
- Almond Milk
How to Make The Best Green Smoothie
- Prep ingredients. Peel ½ a cucumber and ½ cup of ginger (about 3 inches of a branch) and rough chop. If using fresh fruits and vegetables, ensure that all ingredients are rinsed; peel and chop mango into 1 inch by 1 inch pieces.
- Add ingredients. To a blender, add mango, berries, spinach, cucumber, ginger and almond milk.
- Blend ingredients. Place lid on blender and blend for about 1 minute (on the ‘blend’ or ‘smoothie’ setting if your blender has one). If ingredients aren’t fully blended, turn blender off, open the lid and use a wooden spoon to agitate and mix ingredients together, remove wooden spoon, replace blender lid and blend for an additional minute or as needed. Once ingredients are fully blended, pour and enjoy.

Notes
Fresh produce can be swapped out for frozen produce. Using frozen produce in place of fresh eliminates much of the prep work associated with using fresh produce, allows for the opportunity to make this smoothie in colder climates and eliminates the need to add ice to the smoothie for the coldest results.
